HealthWatchlist may earn revenue from clearly identified commercial links. A financial relationship must never be allowed to decide an evidence score, safety conclusion or editorial verdict.
Affiliate links
An affiliate link lets a retailer recognise that a visitor arrived from HealthWatchlist. If a qualifying click or purchase leads to a commission, the relevant page or section will identify the commercial relationship clearly.
The Advertising Standards Authority says affiliate marketing must be obviously identifiable. HealthWatchlist will not rely on this general policy alone where a reader needs a disclosure beside a commercial recommendation.
How commercial relationships are handled
- Payment does not buy an evidence score or a favourable review.
- A manufacturer or retailer does not approve HealthWatchlist conclusions before publication.
- Sponsored material, if accepted, must be labelled as advertising or sponsorship.
- A free sample, loaned product, event invitation or other material benefit connected with a review must be disclosed.
- Commercial links should not be placed inside urgent safety advice or made to look like supporting research.
Product selection and prices
A product may be discussed because it answers a reader question, attracts search demand or illustrates a label, testing or safety issue. Inclusion is not a guarantee of quality. Prices, formulas, labels and stock can change, so the retailer’s current information should be checked before purchase.
Evidence remains separate
Research citations link to the paper, review, regulator or authoritative source wherever possible. They are not replaced by a retailer’s product page. Health claims are judged under the Editorial Policy and the published evidence method, regardless of whether a page earns revenue.
